Yeadon clinches summer package flights to sun

If more of the special Boeing aircraft which will fly holidaymakers to Spain from Leeds and Bradford Airport at Yeadon next winter and summer were available it could become another Luton.

Only three of the advanced 737-200 aircraft were available in Britain.

They were bought to provide direct flights from Luton to the Greek islands and a spin off has been that they can also operate to Spain from a shirt runway.

“No other aircraft in the UK could fly from Yeadon to Spain with a full load of 130 passengers otherwise we no doubt would become another Luton” said Mr. Geoffrey Seller Airport Director.

‘Rabbit hole’ jibe at housing plan

Terrace house development was described by a Harrogate councillor yesterday as places where people are pushed “like rabbits into a warren”.

Coun. Sam Cryer was speaking at a meeting of a Harrogate Borough Council planning committee which approved in principle a terrace of 13 houses at Darley.

Coun. Cryer said “Terrace houses are not always suitable in rural areas. We are pushing people into them like rabbits into a warren”

Two face M62 stones charge

Two youths who are alleged to have dropped boulders from the 180ft. high Scammonden Bridge on the M62 motorway on to a car and a mini-bus were committed for trial at Leeds Crown Court.

Brother and sister in driving finals

A brother and sister Peter Hinchcliffe, 17, and Susan, 20, both of Wesley Grive, Bradford are finalists in the annual Driver of the Year competition to be held at Crystal Palace.

A record number of 33 women will pit their driving skills against 67 men drivers for the top prize of a new Leyland Allegro car.
