Here are some of the Calderdale filming locations used in series one of Gentleman Jack, as well as other spots which were used as local locations but were actually filmed elsewhere.
5. Wakefield Gate
The Lister sisters were heading in the wrong direction as they walked from Shibden into Halifax. The road to town was actually filmed on Wakefield Gate heading out of Halifax close to Wainhouse Tower. Photo: BBC
6. Bare Head Tunnel
Anyone who loves walking around the Shibden Valley will have recognised this location. When Anne was beaten up in episode five, her attacker was waiting for her in Bare Head Tunnel on the road just off Green Lane. Photo: BBC
7. Shibden Valley
Historically there were a number of coal mining pits in the Shibden Valley during the time of Anne Lister and this one, located close to the Bare HeadTunnel, is still standing and was used for filming in episode six. Photo: BBC
8. Sowerby Bridge
This Calderdale town, most often associated with its part in one of Sally Wainwright's other series, Happy Valley, is where the set for Holts Pit, a colliery owned by the Listers, was built.
