SINGER-SONGWRITER Rupert Stroud plans to cap a whirlwind few months when he supports multi-platinum selling band Texas in Leeds’s Millennium Square on Friday night.

A live session and interview with BBC Scotland’s Janice Forsyth earlier this month helped Stroud get selected for the slot in front of an anticipated 5,000 crowd, with lead singer Sharlene Spiteri and her fellow band members being so impressed with what they saw.

It’s been a promising few months for the songsmith with his last EP ‘Talk To You’ reaching No 11 on the iTunes Singer-songwriter charts in Spring, while his latest single - ‘Truth’ - receiving extensive radio play, including BBC Radio 2 and the BBC Introducing programme.

“It’s been a fantastic year so far once again for myself and my music career, particularly with how well the ‘Talk TO You’ EP did on iTunes,” said Rupert.

“The latest single has now been played on over 60 regional radio stations, so that’s been great too.

“I’m just very excited to have been invited to support Texas on their European tour – particularly in my hometown of Leeds.

“Sharlene, the band, and management all had to personally approve me and loved my new single ‘The Truth’, so that means a lot.

“They were able to listen back to the session we did for Janice Forsyth, so knew how me and the band sounded live. From that performance they selected me as support.”

The concert is scheduled to start at 7.30pm.
