Most fantastic fox picture ever, as this one begins his night on the town

A remarkable image of an urban fox taken by a photographer who spent hours every night trying to gain its trust is among the highlights of an exhibition opening in Yorkshire.

Sam Hobson’s picture of the young fox peeking over a wall features in the 52nd Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition, on loan from the Natural History Museum.

Opening at The Treasure House in Beverley on Saturday February 11 next year, it features 100 breathtaking images, from fascinating animal behaviour to remarkable wild landscapes. East Riding of Yorkshire Council is hosting the world-renowned exhibition as part of the Hull  UK City of Culture 2017 programme.

Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture, said: “ This is truly exciting news, and will really attract people to Beverley.

“I am delighted that our first major East Riding event in the Hull UK City of Culture 2017 programme will be this stunning exhibition, which is always hugely popular wherever it appears.

“It is particularly pleasing that the recent refurbishment of Beverley Art Gallery has allowed us to attract exhibitions of this calibre. There is no doubt that this exciting exhibition will show off the Art Gallery to its full potential.”

After opening at the Natural History Museum on October 21 2016, this year’s 100 award-winning images will embark on an international tour that allows them to be seen by millions of people across six continents.
