The national funding body has given the theatre an extra £250,000 for the next three years extra funding, starting in April and says the £250,000, awarded last month, will bridge the gap.

Michelle Dickson, Director, Arts Council North said: “The Arts Council has awarded additional investment of £250,000 to Hull Truck to support the theatre’s increased stability and to consolidate the organisation’s new business model.

“This investment will greatly enhance the theatre’s resilience for the foreseeable future and will enable it

to play a full role in Hull’s UK City of Culture programme in 2017.”

The theatre has needed extra funding on top of annual grants since moving into its £15m home on Ferensway in 2009, including £1m in 2011, from the Arts Council, and £400,000 from the Arts Council and Hull Council last year.
