It has been revived again here by Original Theatre, but sadly lacks any originality and without the Hepburn factor, both the plot holes and the woeful dialogue are horribly exposed.

There are some half decent performances lurking beneath the plodding action. Karina Jones, who was registered blind at the age of 13, does her best to bring some depth to Susy and Jack Ellis manfully attempts to make conman Mike more than just a caricature.

It’s a thankless task though in the face of a production which feels unforgivably dated and which despite the calibre of the cast feels like it might have been the product of bog standard am-dram company.

Pedestrian, unimaginative and more than a little dull, by the time the final plot twist came, it wasn’t just those on stage who were contemplating murder most foul.
