YP Letters: Why didn't Dame Fanny Waterman make cultural list?
IN both news items, and your editorial (The Yorkshire Post, October 18), you acclaimed the achievements of Dame Fanny Waterman, and rightly so.
But, on Monday, you didn’t see fit to include Dame Fanny in your top 25 cultural stars.

Hide AdI would contend that the list shows an excessive bias towards administrators.
It would seem that Yorkshire doesn’t have many people who climb onto stages and platforms to act, dance, sing, play musical instruments, and especially in the classical area.
You can’t even find room for David Hockney; is it because he’s moved back to London?
Also, what about the wonderful people at Music in the Round, based in Sheffield, achieving an international reputation, and bringing superb chamber music concerts to towns like Barnsley and Doncaster?

Hide AdSheffield Theatres also seem to have dropped off The Yorshire Post’s radar. The Crucible has recently won national “best of” awards for recent productions.
Perhaps they should be represented in the top 25?
