Tickets for the first ever live performance of the 1972 album in its entirety sold out in two days as part of Hull City of Culture 2017 after being snapped up from as far afield as Germany and Canada.

The gig - a highlight of the first three months of the year-long arts programme - will feature original Spiders drummer Woody Woodmansey as well as long-time Bowie collaborator, legendary producer Tony Visconti and Heaven 17’s Glenn Gregory.

Woody hopes everyone who has been trying for a ticket will be able to get one for the second show on March 26. He said: “I am really pleased - we got so many emails on our website saying they’d tried to get tickets. We’ve had it since last Friday - people actually going to Hull from different parts of the country (to try and buy one).”

Tickets have also sold out for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra playing the music of film composer John Williams.

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday and can be booked via the Hull City Hall Box office or by calling
