Born and brought up in a busy country pub, my love of food and drink started early. After a long career in television, ostensibly researching serious stories but actually finding good things to eat across the globe, I now contribute to the restaurant and pub columns at the Yorkshire Post. I often sit on judging panels including the Yorkshire Life Food & Drink Awards and The Morning Advertiser’s Top 50 Gastropub Awards. I’ve co-written several books for the AA, including Room at the Inn.
I live in the middle of nowhere on the Pennines above Hebden Bridge, and when I’m not eating I like to go to the movies and live music, take photos and walk my dog. My ideal weekend would involve the Yorkshire seaside, fish and chips and a bottle of something cold.
