116-year-old former woollen mill could be converted into apartments

A 116-year-old former woollen mill in Bradford city centre could soon be converted into apartments.

13 Harris Street was converted into office space in the 1990s, and has recently been sold.

Upper Seymour Investments Ltd has now informed Bradford Council that it intends to convert the building into 14 apartments through “permitted development” – a planning rule that allows empty office space to be converted to residential without the need for planning permission.

The building is a short distance from Shipley Airedale Road and opposite Shire House, an office building that is home to national company Corporate Travel Management.

The flats would be a mix of one-bed and studio apartments.

Bradford Council will only be able to block the development if officers believe the flats will lead to serious highways or environmental health concerns.
