120 jobs to be created with the building of 144 new homes in South Yorkshire

One hundred and twenty jobs are set to be created with the construction of 144 homes in South Yorkshire.

Yorkshire housebuilder Avant Homes is set to begin work on building the 144 homes to Harworth Estates’ Waverley in South Yorkshire, after planning permission was granted by Sheffield City Council for a £42.7m development.

The new, 13-acre development will feature a series of two, three, four and five-bedroom houses.

It will be the third development at Waverley by Avant Homes and follows hot on the heels of previous sites Sorby Row and Sorby Village, which were launched in 2017.

Located off the Sheffield Parkway and just 10 minutes’ drive from Sheffield and Rotherham, Waverley is Yorkshire’s largest ever brownfield mixed-use development. Once complete the 740-acre site will comprise up to 3,890 homes, shops, restaurants, a primary school, and leisure and community facilities including parks and 310-acres of green open space.

Initial groundworks on the new Avant Homes development, named Sorby Park, is due to commence in March with the first homes expected to be ready for occupation in autumn 2021. The build at Sorby Park will take approximately two and a half years and is set to create 120 jobs across sales and construction.

“The development is thriving, showcasing brownfield regeneration at its best and we have had sustained success here over the past five years delivering almost 400 homes. Demand continues to be high for our design-led product and we are very much looking forward to work commencing on Sorby Park in the coming weeks.”

Based in Wakefield, Avant Homes Yorkshire is part of the Avant Homes group, one of the leading private developers of residential property in the UK.

Avant Homes Yorkshire currently has eight developments under construction stretching from Menston in West Yorkshire to Waverley in the south of the region.
