Kiwi expat Mark Windsor, a self-confessed bike nut, said Full Windsor’s new collection is ideal for cyclists “who want something stylish, as well as being practical and durable”.

The apparel comes in two bespoke designs – ‘Parrot’ and ‘Curious Vehicle’.

The ‘Parrot’ design is based on a colourful parrot print while ‘Curious Vehicle’ features the legend “the bicycle is a curious vehicle, the passenger is its engine”.

The new range includes two-part cycling kits, and jerseys and shorts sold as separates.

The clothing is manufactured in the Czech Republic.

Mr Windsor, who is based in East London, praised Yorkshire’s staging of the Grand Depart of last month’s Tour de France and the region’s breathtaking scenery and “wonderfully varied climbs and descents” for both amateur and serious cyclists.

He said: “The most notable thing the cycling community will remember about this year’s Grand Depart of the Tour is the sheer volume and passion of the crowds that marked every meter of the roads travelling through the Yorkshire county.

“I witnessed the level of public enthusiasm at first-hand, as Full Windsor was exhibiting at the Yorkshire Bike Show during the tour and we managed to watch the Depart.

“I think Yorkshire will see an increasing amount of cyclists visiting to ride the Dales and experience the same routes that the Tour used.”

Mr Windsor said Full Windsor designs its own products from initial concept through to manufacture.

He added: “This is very different to today’s common practice of visiting manufacturers, picking products from a catalogue and slapping your logo on top.

“Our bespoke design takes 100 times longer and can be a gruelling process, at times, but it means we can provide our customers with products that truly are unique.

“We feel that we are helping to progress the cycling industry, even if we do it in a small way.”

Full Windsor last year teamed up with Nathan Hughes from Yorkshire-based brand Restrap to form the cycling distribution company, Union of Pedallers.

Restrap started life making pedal straps in Bingley. Its range now covers jerseys, headwear, holsters, backpacks and messenger bags.

Based in Leeds, Union of Pedallers offers a range of products from small, independent brands including BikeParka, Boneshaker, Urbanshell and Brother Cycles.

Mr Windsor said: “The Leeds base is perfect for us as a small company, as the location is affordable and gives us the ability to expand.”

Full Windsor is one of the first UK companies to use the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter to launch its products.

It raised £40,000 for the Nutter cycle multi-tool, which paid for initial tooling costs and manufacturing runs.

The product retails at £39.99 and is aimed at the top end of the market. It earned favourable reviews from cycling blogs.

Full Windsor raised nearly £8,000 on the same platform in 2012 to fund the launch of tool-free foldable mudguards.

Mr Windsor said the company is about to launch its second bicycle multi-tool, again using Kickstarter.

His new apparel is race cut and features breathable mesh underarm and neck back, silicon sleeve cuffs, semi-hidden full zipper, bib shorts with active padding and flat seam, silicon strip waist grip, three pack pockets and one middle zip pocket.
