Canadian firm acquires Hempel Wire

A Canadian company has bought a Yorkshire-based manufacturing firm.

Central Wire Industries has acquired Hempel Wire Limited, a manufacturer and distributor of stainless and nickel alloy wire, based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

The business was purchased for an undisclosed sum from Hempel Special Metals Holding GmbH, an international distributor of specialty metals. It is part of the F.W. Hempel & Co Group of companies, which is headquartered in Oberhausen, Germany. Founded in 1983, Hempel Wire reported sales of £9m last year and has around 45 employees. Central Wire Industries is headquartered in Perth, Ontario, Canada, and manufactures and distributes stainless steel, nickel alloy, and copper and brass wire products throughout the world.
