CBI appoints new regional head

The CBI has appointed Lucy Thornycroft as its new regional director in Yorkshire and the Humber.

She will be moving to the region from London where she was head of the construction policy team at the CBI’s headquarters. Prior to that, she was head of investment policy and strategy at the National Housing Federation.

In her new role, Ms Thornycroft will support CBI Yorkshire and Humber member companies, representing the area’s business leaders on key policy and regulatory issues.

She said: “It’s a privilege to be working with Yorkshire and Humber’s businesses to give them a strong voice in government. Yorkshire and the Humber has a rich diversity of businesses, from the strong financial services sector in Leeds to being the country’s largest food-producing region. With the right environment, these firms will be at the heart of future local growth and rebalancing the UK economy. I’m looking forward to using my policy and lobbying experience to continue to give Yorkshire & Humber businesses a strong voice.”

Katja Hall, CBI deputy director-general, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Lucy into this role. She has significant lobbying experience, having successfully led the CBI’s high-profile work on construction and housing investment, meaning she is well positioned to represent the region’s interests in government.”

She joined the CBI as group head of construction in January 2012.
