Chamber doubles members

Junior Chamber International (JCI) Sheffield, an organisation that provides mentoring for young professionals, has more than doubled its membership in the first six months of the year, it was revealed yesterday.

As a result, Sheffield has become the second largest Junior Chamber outside London. JCI Sheffield has 70 members, which is a 150 per cent increase on the start of the year.

Sheffield will also host the JCI UK National Convention from November 25 to November 27. The event is expected to attract 1,000 delegates to the Royal Victoria Holiday Inn.

She said: “This is a fantastic achievement and demonstrates the value of JCI and its role in supporting young business professionals in the area.

“Our aim is to grow a team that is a reflection of Sheffield businesses and I can say that we have achieved this.

“We have members from across the business community including legal, financial, engineering, also creative and digital sec- tors.

“It’s important to have this representation of sectors to provide young professionals with wider and more diverse opportunities.

“We have employed a PR agency to enhance communications, established links with Sheffield Chamber and as far as I am aware no other JCI team in the UK is working in this way.”
