Morrisons and Too Good to Go save 100,000 meals from going to waste

Morrisons customers have eaten 100,000 meals and saved 100 tonnes of food from going to waste since the Bradford-based grocer became the first supermarket to partner the Too Good to Go app.

Too Good to Go is an app designed to prevent food that has passed its best before date, but is perfectly good to eat, from being thrown away.

In the last 12 months, Morrisons customers have prevented 250 tonnes of carbon dioxide being emitted, the equivalent of 49 flights around the world.

The service is available in the majority of Morrisons stores nationwide, Customers can download the app and select a local store to purchase a bag of unsold food, worth at least £10, for £3.09.

Morrisons said that when food is wasted, we also waste all the energy and water it takes to grow, harvest, transport, and package it.

Steven Butts, head of corporate responsibility at Morrisons, said: “We’re making good food affordable for everyone and working with the Too Good to Go app also reduces food waste.

"Customers love it because they save money and the environment at same time.”
