It is hoped the new app will reduce queueing in the cafés and help customers to maintain social distancing.

All of Morrisons 407 cafes remain open for takeaway orders and customers now order ahead using the new app, choosing a time slot to collect their food.

The head of cafés at Morrisons, Ali Lyons, said: "We’re really looking forward to welcoming our customers back and have invested in our cafes to ensure everyone feels safe and has the best experience possible.

"Our new ‘Order & Pay’ app will make it easier than ever to order from your table and also means that customers looking to pick up a takeaway can book a time that suits them.”
