County Council’s £1m office makeover

North Yorkshire County Council is investing £1m in refurbishing its offices in Harrogate.

The renovation at Jesmond House, which is believed to be the largest refurbishment of pre-let office space in the town, will modernise the interior of the 13,000 sq ft offices over three floors.

The project is being overseen by John Webster and Paul Beckett at the Leeds office of property consultants Carter Jonas.

North Yorkshire County Council staff have temporarily relocated to 30 Victoria Avenue while work is carried out.

John Webster, of Carter Jonas, said: “Work has started on the project with the interior being ripped out and new windows are set to be installed shortly.”

Coun Carl Les, executive member for corporate services, added: “North Yorkshire County Council is very pleased to be working in partnership with Carter Jonas on this office refurbishment project, and is grateful to the building’s owners for ensuring, with this refurbishment, that the council’s staff will have a bright modern environment in which to work.”

He added: “The move back into the ‘new’ Jesmond House is scheduled to take place in August of this year.

“Until then, the County Council’s staff will ensure, from their temporary accommodation at 30 Victoria Avenue, that the people of Harrogate continue to receive the first class service from the county council to which they are accustomed.”
