'Delighted': Ex-Moneysupermarket boss Mark Lewis joins Leeds-based financial planning firm

Leeds-based financial advice firm The Private Office (TPO) has appointed former Moneysupermarket boss Mark Lewis as its new chairman.

The arrival of Mr Lewis as non-executive chairman to support the growth of the business comes after Goldman Sachs Alternatives invested in TPO earlier this year.

Mr Lewis’s previous roles include holding board-level responsibility for retail operations at John Lewis, being managing director of eBay UK and working as chief executive officer of Moneysupermarket Group.

He currently serves as chair of Iamproperty Group, a private equity backed, founder-led property technology business, and as a Non-Executive Director of Sambla Group, backed by Nordic Capital.

Stuart Phillips, CEO of TPO, said “As we enter the next phase of our exciting growth, we have ambitious plans to further strengthen our position as one of the UK's leading and fastest organically growing Chartered Financial Planning businesses.

“Our focus remains clear: delivering high-quality, independent, planning-led advice to our clients and Mark's experience of leading and governing high-growth, consumer-focused businesses, combined with his track record of helping organisations scale through periods of transformation, makes him an outstanding addition to our noard.

“I look forward to working closely with him as we continue to build an exceptional business for our clients and our colleagues who are all shareholders and investors.

“Mark understands the importance of balancing support with challenge.

"His style is structured and data-led which will provide stability and clarity during a period of accelerated growth.”

Mr Lewis said he was pleased to be joining TPO.

“I’m delighted to be working with The Private Office team as they embark on the next phase of their spectacular growth journey with the backing of Goldman Sachs.

"Stuart and the team have built a fantastic business, distinguished by high quality customer service delivered through outstanding technology and a unique colleague proposition that allows them to stand out in the wealth market."

Founded in Leeds in 2008, The Private Office is the largest independently owned Chartered Independent Financial Advice firm in the UK.

As well as its head office in Leeds, TPO also has offices in London and Bath, and supports clients nationally.

The firm acts for over 5,500 individuals, businesses, charities and trusts and manages over £3.6 billion of clients' funds. TPO has 193 staff across its three offices; 56 advisers, supported by a strong team of highly technical individuals, including specialist pension advisers with requisite FCA permissions and Trust & Estate Practitioners accredited by the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP).

In January 2026, TPO announced a minority shareholder investment from Goldman Sachs Alternatives, to allow for future growth and development of the business. All employees continue to have an equity shareholding in the business.
