DFS may undergo £1bn float, say reports

Rumours have resurfaced that sofa specialist DFS could relist on the London Stock Exchange in the autumn following reports that its owner, private equity firm Advent International, has appointed UBS to study the options.

It is thought that a £1bn float is most likely. An IPO is unlikely to take place until at least the third quarter of this year as the Doncaster-based group’s financial year ends in July. DFS declined to comment.

The company, which employs just over 700 people in Yorkshire, recently launched a new website, designed for the growing number of customers who access the DFS website through tablets and mobile phones.

A new partnership with premium brand Sofa Workshop is broadening the group’s appeal to wealthier customers.
