Dixon Chew aims to take on more staff

A YORKSHIRE chemicals firm which protects air travellers from fire hopes to hire more staff next year.

Dixon Chew, which is based in Ravensthorpe, West Yorkshire, manufactures and supplies a range of reactive zirconium chemicals, which are used in many cutting edge industries, such as automotive, textile, ceramics, printing inks and paper.

Richard Hall, a director at Dixon Chew, which has 12 staff and annual turnover of £4m, said: “We have recorded strong trading which has been aided by the euro.

“Most of our chemicals are sold in mainland Europe. Some of the chemicals are used in flame proofing wool fabric for aircraft upholstery.

“If we can achieve growth next year we could hire more staff.

“Margins will be squeezed but signs are that the volumes are going to be there.”
