Doncaster's Eland Cables hits record £317m turnover

A surge in wind farm connections to the electricity grid has generated record revenues at cable supplier Eland Cables.

Doncaster-based Eland Cables reported turnover of £317m in 2025, up 15 per cent year-on-year. A spokesman said the growth was fuelled by wave projects linking wind farms and energy storage systems to national power networks.

Eland Cables is a major supplier of electrical cables to industry, supporting growth in sustainable infrastructure across Europe.

A spokesman said: “The business supplies the medium-voltage power cables that sit at the heart of renewable connections, as well as products specified on national infrastructure including Network Rail and the London Underground.

“The company’s strong performance mirrors a pivotal year for clean energy across Europe. The UK’s National Energy System Operator reported record levels of wind and solar generation in 2025, while analysis from energy think tank Ember showed that wind and solar outpaced fossil fuels across the EU for the first time.”

Jean-Sébastien Pelland, executive director of Eland Cables, said the energy transition is now shifting from building individual projects to integrating vast new renewable capacity into electricity networks.

“Utilities and developers across Europe are racing to connect rapidly expanding wind and storage capacity into the grid,” he said. “That is driving demand for higher-performance cable solutions capable of operating in increasingly complex environments.”

Alongside its commercial growth, the company said it is investing in solar power at its sites, cable recycling programmes, and fleet decarbonisation, while paying above the Living Wage as part of its wider ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) commitments.

With demand from renewable energy and electrification projects continuing to rise, Mr Pelland said 2026 could bring another record year, with potential expansion into new markets.
