Eyewear group seeing benefits of new outlet
The firm, which sells high-end eyewear, was set up in Beverley 15 years ago by optometrists Andrew Scott and Roger Smyth.
Their first premises, a former bank building, was leased for 15 years. The business has had annual turnover of around £250,000 for the last 10 years. “Even though the average sale value continued to increase, the last five years saw the volume shrink slightly with increasing competition and retail recession. Something needed to change,” said Mr Scott.
They bought a property on North Bar Within, Beverley, with the total investment in the relocation costing around £650,000. Mr Scott said he expects turnover this year to hit £350,000.
