Firm fights traffic congestion

A major study into the health of the UK’s roads and has been launched, with a Leeds-based firm taking a top role.

Surveyor Met Geo Environmental has been appointed as consulting partner on the project, which is led by City University London.

It comes as the Centre for Economics and Business Research estimated British drivers spend 124 hours a year in gridlocked traffic.

The cost of traffic congestion is forecasted to rise by 63 per cent to £21bn by 2030

The study includes the development of monitoring and early health warning systems for road networks, to minimise delays and roadworks.
