FMG’s contract to maintain Asda fleet

The vehicles, which operate out of locations across the South of England, represent around 50 per cent of the Leeds-based retailer’s home shopping fleet. The contract includes maintenance, breakdown, operational and accident repairs services as well as the provision of fleet intelligence.

FMG has 350 staff, and recorded a turnover of £85m in 2012. It has a portfolio of long-standing blue chip customers.

It works with major logistics providers like DHL, the Highways Agency, a number of police constabularies, and insurance companies, to reduce the costs and delays linked to problems with vehicles.

FMG handles more than 250,000 incidents every year. The company’s smart technology system, Ingenium Dynamics, helps to reduce accidents by making it easier to monitor motorists’ behaviour. As a result, many clients are seeing a big drop in incident claims.

In October last year, FMG was appointed to recover around 4,000 vehicles per year on behalf of Lincolnshire Police.

The business will manage the recovery of vehicles that have been stolen, or involved in crashes and crime.

FMG manages similar contracts for other police forces across the country, including Lancashire.

Last year, the business was reappointed to the national vehicle recovery manager (NVRM) contract, to deal with incidents on England’s strategic road network, on behalf of the Highways Agency. Spirit Capital owns 40 per cent of FMG, with management owning the remainder.
