Sainsbury’s has indicated that profits will be flat over the next year as it faces intensifying competition from rivals on price and a surge in costs.
Asda has called for the Government to introduce a “simpler” way of spending allowing major firms to give Apprenticeship Levy cash to smaller businesses after almost £8m of allocated funding from the Leeds-based supermarket went unspent last year.
