Director Ms Edlin said: “Gary’s background in finance and strategy development, having held executive positions in a number of major banks, will give Magpie the expertise and support we need to manage and maximise the growth we are seeing.”

Mr Lumby started his career as a cashier for Barclays Bank and joined Yorkshire Bank as regional business manager for the North East in 1998. He was later promoted to head of retail banking and UK director for SME banking at Yorkshire and Clydesdale, before leaving the banks in 2011.

He was awarded an MBE in 2008 for services to the finance industry and was named president of Leeds Chamber of Commerce in the same year.
