A total of 120 units from a batch manufactured in January last year have been found to be contaminated during the filling process, and have since over-pressurised, Halfords said.

The cans could rupture and "propel the empty can at high speed", which could cause injury.

There has been one reported incident involving the product.

The product is a specialist primer designed for preparing repairs that are to be welded.
