Health and safety training firm extending its global reach

A HEALTH and safety training provider has secured contracts in places as far afield as Afghanistan and Zambia.

SHE Knows, which has offices in Grimsby and Hull, has completed training courses for construction workers in Oman and at the Camp Bastion military base in Afghanistan. “We have been able to build up a good level of business with personal recommendations in our key business sectors,” said managing director Linda Crossland-Clarke.

“As well as extensive training for 1,500 contractors at a copper mine in Zambia, we are targeting new markets in Finland, Peru, Singapore and South Africa.”

SHE Knows has an annual turnover of around £1m.

The company employs 13 staff, and its UK clients include Conoco-Phillips.

The company provides a suite of health and safety training services, including NVQ Level-3 to 5 in occupational health and safety, first aid, fire-fighting and confined space awareness, and safety passports for the petrochemical industry.

“We are a one-stop shop for any business, large or small, looking for health and safety training and are fully experienced in all UK and international markets,” added Mrs Crossland-Clarke, who founded the company in 2003 after returning to Hull following a spell living in the Falkland Islands.

SHE Knows trainer Bill Hind visited Singapore and Vietnam at the end of May in conjunction with UK Trade and Indus- try.

As a result, the Institute of Adult Learning in Singapore has signed up to a five-day managing safely course to help local business managers understand risk assessments.
