Johnston Press announces senior appointments

REGIONAL media group Johnston Press today announced two senior appointments.

The company announced that Henry Faure Walker has become digital and business development director with immediate effect.

Mr Walker joined Johnston in 2002 as group business development manager and was most recently general manager of the Scotsman Publications.

In his new role, Mr Walker will continue the company's programme of expanding the digital activities of Johnston Press which has included the launch of local Jobs sites in August 2009 and the new business directory partnership with Qype.

Mr Walker holds a degree from Durham and an MBA from INSEAD.

John Fry, the chief executive of Johnston Press, which owns the Yorkshire Post and other regional titles across the UK and Ireland, said: "We are very pleased that Henry will be heading up our digital and business development areas. He has made a strong contribution to Johnston over the last eight years and the experience he will bring to the new role will be invaluable."

Steve Brown has been appointed as divisional managing director north with effect from September 9.

His appointment follows the departure of Chris Green on August 24.

Mr Brown has spent his career in the regional newspaper industry, having held senior positions at Northcliffe, Trinity Mirror and latterly with the Claverley Group.

Based in Leeds, he will report direct to Danny Cammiade, chief operating officer.

Mr Cammiade said: "We are delighted to welcome Steve to the divisional management team. He has some valuable experience which we know he will apply to his region and will benefit the entire group."
