Legal Matters Q&A: High value drug and trafficking cases are the most dramatic
Cuts across the board to legal aid. It would be fine if the cuts were sensible and well thought out but the fact is that they will likely make very little difference and will just ensure that the most vulnerable members of society will not have access to justice.
What law would you like to see changed?
How the court approaches restraining orders in relation to offences involving domestic violence. Although I welcome that domestic assaults are being taken more seriously, I fear restraining orders are being handed down far too often and without sufficient merit.
What is the most exciting work you have ever done?

Who in the legal world do you most admire?
Iain Morley QC. I remember reading a fantastic book he wrote called The Devil’s Advocate – effectively a blueprint for how a great advocate should conduct themselves in the courtroom.
What advice would you give someone starting out in the profession?
Keep a very open mind when deciding what area of law to specialise in.
