Lloyds Banking Group boss Charlie Nunn opens firm's 'brilliant' new eco-friendly Leeds office

Lloyds Banking Group chief executive Charlie Nunn has officially opened the company’s eco-friendly new office in Leeds.

Mr Nunn was in Leeds on Tuesday to formally open the bank’s new offices inside 11 and 12 Wellington Place, which has been dubbed “the most energy-efficient office building in Yorkshire”.

He was joined by Leeds City Council chief executive Tom Riordan to tour the new site.

Lloyds has taken five and a half floors in the offices after announcing last year it would be moving its large team in the city from their previous base at Lovell Park.

Mr Nunn said: “We’re proud to have made a major office investment in Leeds, with our new premises at Wellington Place. With first-class sustainable systems to heat, cool and power the space, this is one of the most energy-efficient office buildings in the region and great example of what’s possible across the UK.

“Considerable thought and care has gone into the entire site, in order to create a biodiverse environment which is a brilliant place to visit, work and enjoy. This long-term, sustainable investment in Yorkshire’s infrastructure will support our colleagues, customers and communities, now and for the future.”

Mr Riordan added: “It was great to see this impressive office space first-hand and to hear more about Lloyds’ support for our city-wide efforts to make Leeds cleaner and greener.

"We want to ensure the city keeps moving towards our shared ambition of making Leeds carbon neutral by 2030, and it’s only with the help of our communities, partners, and businesses that we can accomplish that. Having a recognised name like Lloyds Banking Group playing their part by making such a strong commitment to the city and its future will also be hugely beneficial.”
