Meet the firm which has delivered one million items of life-saving PPE to care homes

MORE than one million items of lifesaving PPE have been delivered to care homes across the UK - including several in Yorkshire - thanks to the action of a rapid response specialist firm.

A total of 525,000 surgical masks, 500,000 disposable aprons, and 10,000 litres of sanitiser have been sourced and delivered to care homes by ECO this week alone.

Paul Currie, ECO’s contracts manager, said: “We have worked with UK companies to source a sustainable supply of PPE here in this country, which is available to help people right now.

“We have supplied hundreds of care homes across the country, from individual homes to large groups, and right across the UK from Essex to Perthshire and everywhere in between.

“With the shortage of PPE around the country we wanted to use our expertise to step in and see what we could do to help.”

ECO has helped care homes across Yorkshire including some in Leeds, Huddersfield, Barnsley, Keighley, and Hebden Bridge.

Mr Currie said: “The feedback from care homes has been very positive. Procurement teams have thanked us for our swift action, for the quality of the equipment, and for keeping costs down.”

ECO, which is based in Annan, has set up a full COVID-19 emergency rapid response solutions operation and a special medical division with a range of anti-virus sanitiser, PPE including masks and visors, testing kits, testing pods, and medical beds.

Eddie Black, managing director of ECO, said: “Care home staff all over the country - just like the NHS and other emergency workers - are doing an incredible job.

“If anyone needs our expertise, we will get our teams onto it immediately to achieve what needs to be done.”

ECO will also be launching back-to-work sanitising kits for when the lockdown starts to be lifted. When organisations are able to reopen ECO has sanitising kits suitable for a range of business needs from a one-person builder to a call centre employing 500 people.
