Missing man found safe and well

A MAN who had been missing from his home in Hull for three weeks is recovering in hospital after been found during a routine police patrol.

Police said they were “extremely worried” for the welfare of Stephen Sykes because he was known to be depressed.

The 49-year-old was last seen at his home in Brantingham Walk on April 24, but was spotted by police in Rawling Way, close to Hull Royal Infirmary, just before 5.30pm on Tuesday. He has since been admitted to the hospital.

A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said: “Although Stephen appears to be in reasonable physical health he has been admitted to Hull Royal Infirmary where he is being cared for by medical professionals.”

Det Chief Insp Simon Walker added: “We are grateful to the public and the media for the concern shown for Stephen and his family during what has been a very distressing time and are pleased he has been found safe and well.

“The support of the wider community plays a vital role in investigations of this kind and we never take that for granted – once again, many thanks to all who responded.”
