Morris Furniture Brands secures £2.3m funding

A 130-year-old furniture business has secured £2.3m funding after recently changing ownership.

Morris Furniture Brands secured the facility with invoice finance provider Bibby Financial Services (BFS).

The West Yorkshire firm, which specialises in living and dining room furniture, was recently acquired by Todmorden-based Nathan Group, creating a £20m-turnover business.

Its new funding agreement with BFS will allow Morris Furniture Brands to capitalise on growing demand for ‘Made in Britain’ furniture, the group said.

Morris Furniture Brands sells dressers, TV cabinets, chest of draws, tables as well as motion upholstery and occasional chairs across the UK to independent and major retailers. In addition to its wood furniture range, Morris produces upholstered furniture in a range of designs and fabric finishes.

Nicholas Radford, chairman of Morris Furniture Brands and the Nathan Furniture Group said: “This is an exciting time for us as we look to take on what is already a successful business and move it onto the next level.”

BFS was formed in 1982 and is part of the Bibby Line Group. It supports 7,000 SMEs across 19 regional offices in the UK.
