No. I believe that entrepreneurs can see opportunity even in the most difficult of times.

What advice would you give to entrepreneurs who are looking to make a major investment?

To undertake careful due diligence and not rely on gut feelings.

What’s the worst investment you’ve ever made?

Investment in shares in September 1989 - the stock market crashed, Black Friday 13th in October, due to the failed leveraged buyout of UAL corporation, the parent company of United Airlines.

What lessons did you learn from your worst investment?

To only ever invest in shares with money which is not required for longer term plans.

Which sectors are most likely to offer handsome returns for business investors?

Sectors which have a repeat business product or service.

Are there any sectors you feel should be avoided?

Any sectors where it is difficult to become leveraged.

What was the best piece of investment advice you’ve received?

Have two types of money – some round, to go round and spend and have fun, some flat to stack up. It is important to have investments as well as cash to spend. The compound effect of regular savings and investment will give great growth.
