New contract for Pickersgill

Lock manufacturer Pickersgill-Kaye has clinched its largest single order to manufacture emergency door handles for one of the biggest rail projects in the world.

The Leeds-based firm will manufacture and supply emergency egress and emergency access devices for the passenger carriage doors of the Class 800 and 801 trains being supplied by Hitachi Rail Europe for the multi-billion pound Intercity Express Programme. Pickersgill-Kaye will provide devices for 866 carriages over a six-year period for services on the Great Western and East Coast main lines. It will supply Hitachi’s UK rail vehicle manufacturing plant at Newton Aycliffe.
