New video games boost Team17

My Time At Portia involves players returning to their hometown of Portia to take control of their late fathers workshop

This latest game involves players returning to their hometown of Portia to take control of their late father’s workshop and restore it to its former glory.

In order to achieve this, players have to collect resources, craft items and satisfy the requests of the townsfolk.

Players are encouraged to: “Restore your Pa’s neglected workshop to its former glory, grow crops, raise animals, befriend the towns quirky inhabitants and uncover the mysteries that this charming post-apocalyptic land has forgotten.”

Wakefield-based Team17 reported strong trading in the six months to June 30 and said it expects to deliver full year results in line with market expectations.

The group said its back catalogue continues to perform well and the first half saw the launch of a small number of new games from label partners, including My Time At Portia by Pathea Games, Team17’s first indie partner in China.

Team17 said My Time At Portia has successfully launched in early access on PC and illustrates the capabilities and infrastructure of its publishing teams to support global partners.

In June, the company announced the launch date of Overcooked 2, the sequel to the double BAFTA-winning game on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Overcooked 2 is a chaotic cooking game in which players serve a variety of dishes including sushi, pasta, cakes, burgers and burritos to customers in a series of unconventional kitchens - including a hot air balloon, a magical Wizard’s school and another planet.

Team17, which is best known for its hit game Worms, said players will work solo or with up to three friends to prep orders while overcoming obstacles such as fire, collapsing floors, overbearing waiters and the classic kitchen problem of floating work surfaces.

The game has been co-developed in partnership with indie developer Ghost Town Games and Team17 said it demonstrates the unique ability it provides as a creative partner. The firm said the game has seen strong traction with media ahead of the launch on August 7, and was awarded the prestigious “Best of E3 2018 Game Critics Award“ for Best family/social game.

Team17 said it had a successful E3, one of the games industry’s leading calendar events, with three games featuring in press conferences.

In partnership with Nintendo, it unveiled Overcooked 2, PLANET ALPHA was featured in Microsoft’s ID@Xbox montage and a new trailer for Genesis: Alpha One was revealed during the PC Gaming Show.
