"Next chapter": Huge student development on course to be latest addition to £300m SOYO scheme in Leeds

A new photo shows the latest progress being made on the £300m SOYO neighbourhood project in Leeds.

Work is currently taking place on SOYO Block D, a student accomodation development with almost 300 bedrooms that is due to be ready for the 2027/28 academic year.

It follows the completion of nearby residential buildings Madison East, Mercer West, and Moda New York Square, which together now provide build-to-rent accommodation to more than 1,000 people.

Rachel Groves, Project Director at Moda Living said: “We’re excited to begin the next chapter of the SOYO neighbourhood, as we look forward to providing students with accessible and sustainable accommodation that meets the needs of the next generation.

“Moda is pleased to be working with the Caddick developments and construction teams again, with a shared purpose to create exceptional places and communities where people thrive.”

Steve Ford, Regional Managing Director of Caddick Construction Yorkshire & North East, added: “The pace and quality of our progress at Block D represent the energy and drive behind the new SOYO neighbourhood, and its place as a landmark destination for culture and community.

“We’re very proud to be working in partnership with our colleagues at Moda and Caddick Developments to deliver this ambitious vision, and to bring our extensive experience in high-rise residential development to the student accommodation market.”
