NG Bailey completes energy centre

NG Bailey, one of Yorkshire’s largest family-owned businesses, has completed work on an energy centre at Arla’s new £150m flagship dairy in Aylesbury.

The facility for dairy business Arla, which has its UK HQ in Leeds, will generate the services required to operate the dairy, including steam and low pressure hot water. Using waste heat from two combined heat and power plants, it will produce more than 14 megawatts of connected heat output – enough to heat more than 2,000 homes.

Ilkley-based NG Bailey, a £450m turnover engineering, IT and facilities services business, has completed all mechanical and electrical services work to the centre, using offsite manufacture techniques and 3D modelling.

Paul Beeton, project leader, said: “This is a major milestone in the development of the £150m dairy.”

The energy centre will be fully functional before July, he said.

NG Bailey will also operate and maintain the entire facility for a minimum of 15 years.
