What was your first job?
I was a mushroom picker when I was 13.
If you weren’t in your current position, what would you be doing?
Probably still teaching.
What was your worst mistake?
Not believing in myself for a long time, and thinking that I was worth less than other people.
What’s you ideal day away from the office?

Hide AdFamily days where we do something special, like visit a zoo or a theme park, are hard to beat.
Name one person you would like to have dinner with and why?
Jessica Ennis – I think she’s an amazing role model. I’d love to chat to her about her achievements and future goals.
What was your best subject at school?
I was good at English, history and French.
What are your hobbies?
I love to work out, so I go running or do fitness training every day. As a family we go hill-walking in the Lake District several times a year.
What would you do if you won the Lottery?
I’d move to my dream house, which is an eco-friendly detached six-bedroomed property with lots of land so I can keep more chickens. I’d also give a lot to family, friends and charities – especially my favourite charity, Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline.
What’s your favourite item of clothing?
A cream silk vest-top.
What’s your favourite time of day?

What’s the best thing about Yorkshire?
It’s an incredibly beautiful part of the country and there’s a lot of local pride about the area.
What would you like your epitaph to be?
Look for what is good in life and live with gratitude.
