Parfetts’ turnover and profits rise

PARFETTS, the employee-owned wholesaler, which employs 142 staff at its depots in Halifax and Sheffield, yesterday revealed that its profits and turnover rose last year, during a period of “economic challenges”.

David Grimes, the managing director, said Parfetts had achieved an excellent set of trading figures, at a time when “click and collect” was a growth area. In the year ending June 30 2014, the Stockport-based company’s turnover rose by three per cent to £308.77m. Its pre-tax profit in 2014 was £3.6m. In 2013, excluding exceptionals, the figure was £3.4m.

Mr Grimes added: “The markets in which we operate remain highly competitive..The number of convenience stores opened by the multiples continues to increase and the impact on our retail customers is huge.”
