Paxman's new system aims to reduce risk of lasting nerve damage from chemotherapy
Medical equipment manufacturer Paxman has launched a system which aims to help reduce nerve damage in hands and feet caused by chemotherapy.
The Huddersfield based company, which is best known for creating a scalp cooling system which helps reduce chemotherapy-related hair loss, believes the Paxman Neuropathy System will address a side effect that can leave patients with lasting pain, numbness and difficulty carrying out everyday tasks.
Richard Paxman OBE, CEO of Paxman, said: "This product launch marks a new chapter for Paxman. For more than two decades, our mission has been to improve the quality of life for people undergoing cancer treatment, through our scalp cooling system to manage the side effect of chemotherapy-induced hair loss."
"Our mission is now expanded to address additional treatment-related side effects. Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy can have a profound and lasting impact on patients, yet there are currently very few options available to help prevent it.”
