In Christie & Co’s sectors, which are care, hospitality, retail, leisure, childcare and education, and medical, we have seen excellent prospects across all of these sectors throughout Yorkshire.

There is good demand for these businesses and there also seems to be a good appetite from banks to lend and support new ventures.

We are also witnessing a number of new companies being established in these sectors with some interesting, new, and innovative concepts.

A number of established companies are also becoming more pioneering, altering and expanding their offering for customers and clients.

What is the best project you have been involved in?

The sale of the Cedar Court Hotel in York, which is the only five-star hotel in Yorkshire, definitely stands out as a favourite. It is a fantastic building and has a rich history, being the former headquarters of the North Eastern Railway Company.

It was an honour to be involved in selling such an iconic building.

What is your favourite building in the region and why?

I think York Minster is absolutely stunning and considering its original parts date back to the seventh century, it is an amazing piece of local historical architecture.

If you could change one thing to improve the property industry in this region, what would it be?

I would like to see the overall commercial property sector and business transfer agents in particular be more regulated so that there is closer monitoring of conduct and the client experience is improved through dealing with grievances more thoroughly.

Who has inspired you?

Having read his books, I am inspired by the drive and entrepreneurial flair of Richard Branson.

As a Newcastle United fan, Bobby Robson is also a hero of mine because of his robustness through adversity whilst maintaining a positive outlook and acting like a gentleman.

Professionally, my team often inspire me when they are able to learn a new skill and I see them using that skill to support their own development for further business success.
