We must capitalise on the Government’s commitment to the Northern Powerhouse by bringing forward a property infrastructure that provides the right mix of commercial offices and industrial/warehousing accommodation.

What is the best project you have been involved in?

Burnley Bridge, a 70-acre scheme just off the M65. We’ll soon enter phase two of the development which will bring the total accommodation figure to more than 860,000 sq ft. It’s our biggest project to-date.

I think the Trinity Shopping Centre in Leeds is a really successful contemporary building, creating the openness of a traditional high street with the practicality of a mall.

If you could change one thing to improve the property industry, what would it be?

The sector has a lot of talented people in the region but there is still a perception - which is true to an extent - that the real opportunities to work on landmark schemes and rise up the career ladder are in the South.

We need more investment, more opportunity and a reason for the most talented people to stay in the region, which means turning the political rhetoric about creating a commercial ‘super city’ in the North into an economic reality.
