Despite the obvious justifiable concerns over ‘Brexit’, the fundamentals in Yorkshire are sound with manageable levels of new stock across all main asset classes and occupier interest appearing ahead of pre-referendum levels. John Lewis is about to open its largest store outside of London in Leeds, anchoring the much awaited Victoria Quarter; Bradford has a spring in its step again with a new shopping centre to be proud of and one of the largest distribution deals in the country was concluded in Wakefield with TK Maxx.

What is the biggest project you have been involved in?

I was privileged to advise Carlsberg in the sale of the former 22-acre Tetley’s Brewery site in central Leeds last October to Vastint. This was one of the most demanding projects I have ever worked on but the outcome was great for everyone involved.

What is your favourite building in the region?

Leeds Railway Station – not for what it is now but for what it needs to be and will become. With the Southern entrance in place, the station is finally located with access directly into the centre of Leeds. With HS2 plans, the expanded station will be not just be the beating heart of the city but the epicentre of the city region. 


If you could change one thing to improve the property industry in the region, what would it be?

Simply to shout louder about the success of this region and why it is such a great place to live and work.

Whom do you admire most in the Yorkshire property industry?

James Poskitt. He was my boss many years ago. I will always be grateful for his guidance.
