Current national and global economic data is still very unstable and much of the current growth in the property sector in Yorkshire is fuelled by student accommodation. I fear at current rate of growth, this segment will be saturated very quickly. I just hope the landing is not going to be too hard.

What is the best project you have been involved in?

Our current project, New Era Square. The vision and plans to redevelop the area into ‘Sheffield’s China Town’ have been discussed for many years and we’ve been working behind the scenes to get the project off the ground, so it’s really exciting to finally see building work underway.

What is your favourite building in the region and why?

My favourite building is Sheffield City Hall. It’s a magnificent building both inside and out and is iconic to Sheffield. I have organised Sheffield’s Chinese New Year Celebration in this building for the last ten years and we have filled the 2,250 seats in the main theatre nearly every year. It has always been an honour to spend time in such a fantastic place.

If you could change one thing to improve the property industry in the region, what would it be?

It could create a win-win situation if central and local government could work together to make foreign inward investment more attractive to companies looking to develop property, as well as making planning policies more accessible and less complex.
