We are seemingly in challenging times for the retail and restaurant sectors. However, I have seen an upturn in the purchase and lettings of office space and well located industrial units.

What is the best project you have been involved in?

I am lucky to have been involved in many exciting projects. However, the most recent one has been the role I played in bringing The Ivy Brasserie to Harrogate.

What is your favourite building in the region and why?

Castle Howard, without a doubt. I used to visit often as a child and appreciated its beauty from an early age. Many years later, I was very lucky to get married there.

If you could change one thing to improve the property industry, what would it be?

The biggest hurdles typically encountered as a commercial property lawyer are the inconsistencies and delays at the Land Registry. The idea behind the Land Registry was to make it quicker and easier. The six month plus delays at present hinder many a transaction and prove very frustrating for everyone concerned.

Who do you most admire in property in Yorkshire?

Private investors and pension schemes for their vision and patience.
