£1.2m contracts for Clyde

Doncaster-based Clyde, which specialises in pneumatic processing

systems for industries including food and mining, said its North American operation won a 700,000 contract from an engineering and construction firm to supply a pneumatic system to process fly ash, which will be used to make building products at a plant in Maryland, USA.

Clyde's pneumatic conveying systems offer a cheaper, greener

alternative to traditional conveyor belts.

They transport materials by blowing them through an enclosed pipeline.

Clyde said its South African arm has won a 500,000 deal to supply a chemicals giant with a pneumatic system to transport limestone 450 metres between a storage silo to a feed hopper at a rate of 30 tonnes an hour.

Alex Stewart, chief executive, said: "Our order book and order intake levels have steadily increased since the turn of 2010 and both of these contracts represent this positive trend.

"It is especially pleasing that our South African subsidiary has diversified into chemicals, which we anticipate will be a growing market for our technologies.

"Both of these contracts have been secured at competitive levels of contribution and are in line with management expectations.

"We believe that capital expenditure plans are being accelerated across many of our key customer markets and the group is embarking on global strategies that will enhance our existing pipeline of sales
