Renew secures £26m Sellafield deal

ENGINEERING services group Renew Holdings has won a framework deal at Sellafield nuclear plant worth £26m over four years.

The group’s subsidiary Shepley Engineers was appointed sole contractor on a new framework at the site in Cumbria. The deal is for a range of engineering support at Sellafield’s first generation Magnox storage ponds. The Leeds-based group also recently announced land remediation contracts with National Grid are worth £30m annually.

These frameworks are for three years, but with the possibility of up to five years’ work. Renew added two previously announced three-year hydroelectric generation frameworks are worth £16m.

Chief executive Brian May said: “These new framework appointments reinforce our already strong engineering services forward order position. The recently announced Government commitment to infrastructure funding confirms the board’s confidence that Renew’s position as an engineering services group supporting UK infrastructure will provide sustainable, profitable growth in 2012 and beyond.”
